Lidl mažų kainų parduotuvių tinklas valdo apie 10 000 parduotuvių 28-iose šalyse. Lidl iš viso turi daugiau kaip 230 000 darbuotojų. Tinklo apyvarta Europos mastu – 79,4 mlrd. (2014 m.). Lidl priklauso Dieteriui Schwarzui, kuriam taip pat priklauso parduotuvių tinklai Handelshof ir Kaufland.
Didžiojoje Britanijoje Lidl valdo apie 800 parduotuvių tinklą visoje Anglijoje, Škotijoje ir Velse, 13 regioninių platinimo centrų. Jose dirba apie 25.000 žmonių. Lidl JK rinkos dalis yra 6,1%.

Lidl istorija
1973 m. - Lidl atidaro pirmąją parduotuvę Vokietijoje, kurioje dirbo trys žmonės ir kurioje buvo apie 500 prekių.
1989 m. - Lidl atidaro pirmąją parduotuvę Prancūzijoje.
1994 m. - lapkritį Lidl atidarė pirmąsias dešimt parduotuvių Didžiojoje Britanijoje.
2016 m. - Lidl atidarė pirmąsias parduotuves Lietuvoje
2017 m. - Lidl atidaro savo pirmąsias parduotuves JAV

Lidl Stiftung & Co. KG, formerly Schwarz Unternehmenstreuhand KG, is a German global discount supermarket chain, based in Neckarsulm, Germany, that operates over 10,000 stores across Europe and USA. It belongs to Dieter Schwarz, who also owns the store chains Handelshof and hypermarket Kaufland.
Lidl is the chief competitor of the similar German discount chain Aldi in several markets, including USA. There are Lidl stores in every member state of the European Union, except Latvia and Estonia.
In Great Britain, Lidl has about 800 stores across England, Scotland and Wales, 13 regional distribution centres. They employ about 25.000 people. Lidl UK market share is 6.1%.
The first Lidl GB store opened its doors in 1994.
